1978Once again it’s People Day in the hood,
people all gather down at the local
elementary school. The volunteers are
setting up the stage for the show. Local
bands from everywhere come to play...
Vendors set up to sell their goods. All the
children are playing and having fun on the
field. The older people place blankets on
the hill, jockeying for the best place to sit
and watch the show. Hidden in their coolers
are beer and Old Granddad, just in case at
night it gets a little cool. This is the
one day in the hood it doesn’t matter which
neighborhood they come from... It’s
People’s Day and it’s the one day of the
year we all come together to have some fun
here in East Capital dwelling where I stay. |
